Dan Brown to write new 'Da Vinci Code' sequel
'The Lost Symbol' is the follow-up to 2009's 'Angels and Demons'
Sky Movies reports that Eastern Promises writer Steven Knight wrote a draft for the new film, which is based on Brown's hugely successful novel and sees lead character Robert Langdon become embroiled in a conspiracy involving the Freemasons.
However, Brown has now taken over writing responsibilities - the first time he has done so for any of the movies based on his books. Akiva Goldsman wrote the first movie and co-wrote the second film with David Koepp.
Director of the first two films Ron Howard has not been confirmed for the third movie, nor has star Tom Hanks. The two existing movies have reaped a combined £1billion at the box office.
