Daniel Radcliffe: 'I'm not surprised at 'Harry Potter' Oscar snub'

Boy wizard also says that awards ceremonies are 'very self-congratulatory'

Daniel Radcliffe has insisted that he is not surprised that Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 didn't pick up a Best Picture nomination for this year's Oscars.

After the final chapter in the big-screen wizarding saga was overlooked by the Academy on their shortlist of the year's best films, Radcliffe claimed that he and the rest of the cast wouldn't be "losing sleep" over the snub, according to the Huffington Post.

"I didn't expect it to be nominated for Best Picture, and no, it doesn't faze us,” he said. "Just because we've been around for a long time, and made a lot of movies, I don't think when you come to the end of that series anyone's obligated to say you're best picture.

"Obviously it would have been lovely, but I don't think it's something we're going to be losing sleep over," he added.

Radcliffe also revealed that he had mixed feelings about actors winning gongs at awards ceremonies, stating:

We love to pat ourselves on the back in this industry, and we like to tell ourselves how well we've done and how amazing we are. It's all very self-congratulatory.

Radcliffe is set to star in the forthcoming flick The Woman In Black, which is directed by James Watkins and will be released in cinemas on February 10. The actor, who revealed last year that he almost turned down the role of Harry Potter, is also in the frame to take on the role of beat poet Allen Ginsberg in the thriller Kill Your Darlings.
