Director David Fincher is set to helm a biopic of late Apple founder Steve Jobs, according to reports.

Variety says that Fincher will team up with screenwriter Aaron Sorkin for the project. The pair previously worked together on a film which examined the story of another notable technology figure, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, in The Social Network.

Speaking previously about the project, Sorkin said: "This entire movie is going to be three scenes, and three scenes only, that all take place in real time. Each of these three scenes is going to take place before a product launch - backstage before a product launch. The first one being the Mac, the second one being NeXT, and the third one being the iPod."

Steve Jobs served as Apple CEO over three decades from 1971 to 2000, before dying in October 2011 of complications arising from pancreatic cancer. Another biopic of his life, simply titled Jobs and starring Ashton Kutcher in the titular role, was released in the US in 2013.
