David Schwimmer looks like he's trying to put Ross Geller and Central Perk behind him after being linked to the role of a contract killer.
Variety magazine is reporting that the Friends star will play Jack Rosenthal in The Iceman, directed by Ariel Vromen and due for release in 2013.
The indie drama follows the titular Iceman, Richard Kuklinski, a Mafia hit man who claimed to have killed more than 250 people between 1948 and 1986. He'll be played by Michael Shannon, who is also appearing as General Zod in upcoming Superman film Man Of Steel.
Maggie Gyllenhaal and Ray Liotta are both lined up for roles, while 127 Hours star James Franco left the project for unknown reasons.
Schwimmer's character Rosenthal is a contract killer who works for Liotta's mob boss.
