'Deadpool' branded 'outstanding' and 'fucking amazing' after surprise preview screenings

Ryan Reynolds-led superhero movie is praised by film fans treated to an early viewing

Surprise early screenings of Deadpool were held in New York and Los Angeles last night (January 18) and the initial response to the film is overwhelmingly positive.

Those attending the screenings were told they would be seeing a selection of preview footage, but were actually shown the Ryan Reynolds-led superhero movie in its entirety.

Though full reviews are currently under embargo, many of them took to Twitter after the screenings to brand the R-rated romp "outstanding", "fucking amazing" and "just a blast". Check out a selection of their tweets below.
















The long-awaited film will open in UK cinemas on February 10. Ryan Reynolds is flanked by a supporting cast that includes Haywire's Gina Carano, former Homeland actress Morena Baccarin and Silicon Valley star TJ Miller.

Visual effects specialist Tim Miller, whose CV includes creating the opening sequence for 2013's Thor: The Dark World, makes his directorial debut from a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the creators of US hoax-based comedy series The Joe Schmo Show.

The film's official plot synopsis teases: "Based upon Marvel Comics' most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humour, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life."
