Donald Trump thanks 'respected columnist' Katie Hopkins following anti-Muslim comments
Republican Presidential candidate says UK politicians should take not of Hopkins' 'powerful writing'
Billionaire-turned-politician Trump recently added to an already controversial US Presidential campaign by claiming that all Muslims should be barred from entering the US "until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on". His comments were made following a series of terrorist attacks in both the US and Europe.
He also described the UK as having a "massive Muslim problem", tweeting: "The United Kingdom is trying hard to disguise their massive Muslim problem. Everybody is wise to what is happening, very sad! Be honest."
While the comments received widespread criticism, Daily Mail journalist and former Apprentice contestant Hopkins appeared on Fox News to back Trump's remarks.
Hopkins later took to Twitter to write: "Donald Trump is speaking up for Americans who look at not so great Britain with pity".
Trump returned the praise by saying: "Thank you to respected columnist Katie Hopkins of Daily Mail for her powerful writing on the UK's Muslim problems... The politicians of the UK should watch Katie Hopkins... Many people in the UK agree with me!"

It's because Trump & I articulate sentiments repressed by the politically correct consensus that we have a voice. https://t.co/jBEJETjBZt— Katie Hopkins (@KTHopkins) December 10, 2015
Meanwhile, over 500,000 people have signed a petition seeking to ban Trump from the UK following his remarks.
