Dwayne Johnson could get his own spin-off movie after 'Fast & Furious 6'
Johnson's character Luke Hobbs proved popular when he made his debut in 2011's 'Fast Five'
Dwayne Johnson has revealed he could star in his own spin-off movie after the next Fast & Furious adventure.
Johnson made his debut as Diplomatic Security Service Agent Luke Hobbs in 2011's Fast Five and the character proved so popular that the idea of Luke Hobbs: The Movie was mooted. He will return as Hobbs in Fast & Furious 6, which arrives in cinemas on May 24.
Asked by Empire when Hobbs will be getting his own film, Johnson replied: "Possibly after this one, the next one [F&F 6]. I’m not quite too sure. I know that's the goal and we continue to build that character and have him take shape. But yes, I can’t wait.”
Meanwhile, the first trailer for Fast & Furious 6 has now been released and appears at the end of this article. Alongside Johnson, the film stars F&F veterans Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster and Ludacris. Joining them this time out are Haywire star Gina Carano and British actor Luke Evans.
Last month (February), an official plot synopsis was released by Universal Pictures. It reveals that the usual F&F crew reunite to thwart a criminal outfit led by Luke Evans' Owen Shaw character. If successful, the gang will earn their pardons and be able to return safely to their families.
