'Eastbound & Down' team to return to HBO with new show 'Vice Principles'

Eighteen episodes of Danny McBride and Jody Hill comedy ordered by network

Danny McBride will reunite Jody Hill, whom he worked with on Eastbound & Down on new show Vice Principles.

HBO has confirmed its order of 18 episodes of the show, which focuses on a US high school through the eyes of its vice principle.

HBO president Michael Lombardo praised the relationship between MvBride and Hill as his reason for wanting to work with them again: "Danny McBride and Jody Hill have created a smart, rowdy and unpredictable style of comedy that we can't get enough of," he said in a statement. "The idea of them setting their minds on high school was irresistible."

Speaking about the show earlier this year, Jody Hill suggested that Danny McBride had held "several serious talks " with Lindsay Lohan about casting her in the upcoming project. The writer also told Splitsider that Vice Principals "just focuses on different parts of the high school world. It's based off a [movie] script that Danny and me wrote a long time ago, and we're kind of evolving that into our show."

McBride played former baseball star Kenny Powers, in HBO's Eastbound & Down . The show ended in 2013.
