Eddie Murphy's new 'Beverly Hills Cop' film moving forward with original producer
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer is in talks to reunite with Murphy for 'Beverly Hills Cop IV'
Original producer Jerry Bruckheimer is in talks to come back on board for Eddie Murphy's new Beverly Hills Cop movie, Variety reports.
Bruckheimer served as a producer on 1984's Beverly Hills Cop and 1987's Beverly Hills Cop II but skipped the third instalment, which came out in 1994. He also turned down the chance to work on Murphy's ill-fated Beverly Hills Cop TV series, which was canned earlier this year (2013) after a pilot episode failed to find a network.
Although the pilot proved unpopular, it apparently revived interest in the film series and in July it was reported that Paramount Pictures was "moving fast" on plans for Beverly Hills Cop IV, with Murphy set to star once more as wise-cracking cop Axel Foley. Murphy would only have made the odd guest appearance in the planned TV series, which was to be centred on Axel Foley's son Aaron, played by Brandon T Jackson.
The new Beverly Hills Cop movie has no director yet but Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol screenwriters Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec have been hired to write a script based on an idea by Murphy.
In addition to the first two Beverly Hills Cop films, Bruckheimer has helped to produce numerous blockbuster movies over the past four decades including the Pirates Of The Caribbean series, Top Gun, Flashdance, Armageddon and Bad Boys.
