'Entourage' movie targets Kate Upton as female lead

Kate Upton is reportedly being lined up play the female lead in the forthcoming Entourage movie.

According to TheWrap, the swimwear model-turned-actress is "in early discussions" to join the film's cast, though makers Warner Bros have apparently made no formal offer yet. The role that would be played by Upton, best known for her appearances in Sports Illustrated's annual Swimsuit Issue, is being kept under wraps.

Entourage creator Doug Ellin revealed at the end of last month (October) that the big screen version of his HBO TV series is finally "a go". The film was given a green light by Warner Bros in January of this year (2013) but it took several months for the cast members to hammer out their contracts. After Jeremy Piven signed a deal that includes a share of the film's profits, co-stars Adrian Grenier, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara and Kevin Connolly held out for similar contracts, Deadline has reported.

Grenier, Dillon, Ferrara and Connolly have now secured themselves a slice of the profits too and shooting is due to begin early next year (2014) The film is said to have a production budget of around $30 million (£19 million),

Entourage launched on HBO in 2004 and followed the LA adventures of an up-and-coming film star and his posse of childhood friends. During its eight-season run, the show became known for hosting cameos from countless A-list stars including Kanye West, U2, Matt Damon, Scarlett Johansson and Mark Wahlberg, who was also one of the show's executive producers. Walhberg will serve as an executive producer on the movie too.
