The first trailer for Ryan Reynolds' eagerly-anticipated Deadpool movie will be released next week.

A Deadpool teaser featuring lashings of gore and raunchy language was shown at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this month, but has not been shared online. However, a "redband" - or explicit - trailer for the film will be unveiled when Reynolds appears on US chat show Conan this coming Tuesday (August 4).

An episode description on the show's website reveals: "Ryan Reynolds debuts the new redband trailer for Deadpool. We're filling up his dressing room with chimichangas in anticipation."

Reynolds first played Wade Wilson aka Deadpool, a Marvel Comics anti-hero famed for his over-chatty personality and tendency to break the fourth wall, in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The character's long-awaited solo movie has been in the works since 2010.

Visual effects specialist Tim Miller, whose CV includes creating the opening sequence for 2013's Thor: The Dark World, is making his directorial debut from a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the creators of US hoax-based comedy series The Joe Schmo Show. Miller began filming in late March in Vancouver, Canada, and Reynolds tweeted in late May that the shoot had wrapped. Deadpool will open in cinemas on February 12, 2016.

Reynolds also used Twitter to share the first picture of himself in costume as Deadpool - see below. He is joined in the film by a supporting cast that includes Haywire's Gina Carano, former Homeland actress Morena Baccarin and Silicon Valley star TJ Miller.
