'Fast & Furious 6' begins shooting in Surrey

The new Fast & Furious movie has begun shooting at Surrey's Shepperton Studios.

Yesterday (July 30), director Justin Lin tweeted:

The sequel is the follow-up to 2011's Fast Five, which became the most successful film in the franchise to date after taking more than $625 million (£398 million) worldwide. Taiwanese director Lin also directed Fast Five and two previous sequels, 2009's Fast & Furious and 2006's The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

The sixth Fast & Furious film does not have an official title yet, but the action is expected to centre upon a European heist and a race against a rival team of criminals. The screenplay has been written by Chris Morgan, who also provided the script for three previous films in the series. As well as shooting at Shepperton Studios, location work is expected to take place in London and Southend.

Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster will all reprise their roles from previous films. Earlier this year (2012), it was reported that Rihanna had been cast as a villain in the movie, but a representative for the singer has since denied this rumour.
