First full trailer for 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' - watch

Following a brief teaser clip yesterday (October 23), Marvel has released the full first trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Watch it below.

Chris Evans has reprised his role as Steve Rogers aka Captain America and is joined in the sequel by Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow and Samuel L Jackson's Nick Fury. Meanwhile, Anthony Mackie plays a superhero called the Falcon who has the ability to fly and Robert Redford appears as a a senior official within government agency S.H.I.E.L.D.

Marvel's plot synopsis reads: "After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, DC and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a SHIELD colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk."

The synopsis continues: "Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy — the Winter Soldier."

Directors Anthony and Joe Russo (You, Me And Dupree) shot the sequel between April and June this year in various locations including LA, Cleveland and Washington, DC. Captain America: The Winter Soldier will open in cinemas on April 4, 2014.
