First glimpse of Helena Bonham Carter as Elizabeth Taylor in BBC4 film trailer - watch

The first trailer for the forthcoming BBC4 film about Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton has been released. Scroll down and click 'play' to watch it.

Titled Burton And Taylor, it stars Helena Bonham Carter and Dominic West as the famously volatile Hollywood couple, who married and divorced each other twice.

The biopic is set in 1983 and follows Burton and Taylor - already twice-divorced at this point - as they prepare to star opposite one another in a Broadway revival of Noel Coward's Private Lives. The production received poor reviews from theatre critics, but proved popular with audiences who drew parallels between the action onstage and the actors' real-life relationship.

Burton And Taylor is due to air on BBC4 later this year (2013). Last November (2012), another made-for-TV movie about the couple called Liz & Dick was shown on US network Lifetime. Starring Lindsay Lohan as Taylor and Grant Bowler as Burton, it received a grilling from critics but some viewers found it unintentionally hilarious.

Choice dialogue from Liz & Dick included "I don't hate you, I loathe you!", "I don't need a pool, I've got a whole ocean in you" and the classic "feel my pudgy hands now".
