First trailer for 'Carrie' remake starring Chloë Moretz unveiled - watch

The first trailer for the eagerly-anticipated remake of Carrie has been released. Scroll down and click 'play' to watch it.

Carrie is being billed as a "re-imagining" of the classic horror story from Stephen King, whose novel was famously adapted into a 1976 film starring Sissy Spacek. In the new version, Kick-Ass star Chloë Moretz plays Carrie, the girl who unleashes telekinetic terror on a small town after a cruel prank backfires on prom night.

Julianne Moore co-stars as Carrie's overbearing religious mother and Judy Greer appears as a gym teacher who tries in vain to protect her from the school bullies. All appear in the two-and-a-half-minute trailer, which includes glimpses of the terror Carrie causes after the prank pushes her over the edge.

The remake has been directed by Kimberly Peirce, who previously helmed Boys Don't Cry and Stop-Loss. The script was written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, best known for his work on HBO drama series Big Love, based on the original novel by King.

Carrie was originally due for release this March, but has since been pushed back and will now open on November 29. In the meantime, Moretz will reprise her role as Hit-Girl in Kick-Ass 2, which arrives in cinemas on July 19.
