First trailer for 'Dallas Buyers Club' starring Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto - watch
Both actors lost a lot of weight for their roles and are being tipped for Oscar nominations
The first trailer for Dallas Buyers Club starring Matthew McConaughey and 30 Seconds To Mars frontman Jared Leto has been released. Scroll down and click 'play' to watch it.
The film is inspired by the real-life story of Rod Woodroof, a Texan electrician diagnosed with HIV/AIDS in 1986 who began smuggling alternative drugs into America to help himself and other AIDS patients. McConaughey stars as Woodroof, who was given six months to live but managed to survive for six years, doing battle with officials who wanted to keep his controversial medicine out of the country.
Meanwhile, Leto plays Rayon, a transsexual woman with HIV who helps Woodroof. Both actors lost a considerable amount of weight for their roles, as the trailer shows, and are being tipped for Oscar nominations.
The film, directed by The Young Victoria's Jean-Marc Vallée, is Leto's first acting job since 2009's Mr Nobody. Jennifer Garner also co-stars as a sympathetic doctor who helps Woodroof too.
Dallas Buyers Club is set to premiere at next month's Toronto International Film Festival before opening in US cinemas on November 1. A UK release follows on February 7, 2014.
