Amanda Seyfried plays Lovelace, a girl from a working-class family in the Bronx who became the world's most famous porn star after appearing in the notorious 1972 blue movie Deep Throat.

The film follows Lovelace - real name Linda Susan Boreman - from the age of 20 to 32. It's billed as the "story of Linda Lovelace, who is used and abused by the porn industry at the behest of her coercive husband, before taking control of her life". Lovelace died in 2002 at the age of 53 following a serious car crash, having publicly denounced her porn career over two decades previously.

Peter Sarsgaard co-stars as Lovelace's then husband Chuck Traynor and the film's impressive ensemble cast includes Sharon Stone, Adam Brody, Chris Noth, Chloe Sevigny, Juno Temple and Hank Azaria. Meanwhile, the ever game James Franco makes an appearance as Hugh Hefner.

Rob Epstein (Howl) directed from a script by playwright Andy Bellin. Lovelace is released in the US on August 9 before opening in UK cinemas a fortnight later on August 23.
