'Frasier' star Kelsey Grammer to play villain in 'Transformers 4'
He'll square up to Mark Wahlberg in Michael Bay's blockbuster sequel
Kelsey Grammer has joined the cast of Transformers 4.
According to Deadline, the Frasier star has signed on to play "the key villain" in the new Transformers movie from director Michael Bay.
Grammer will square up to Mark Wahlberg, who was cast as the film's lead after Shia LaBeouf declined to return for a fourth adventure. Wahlberg has recently promised that the new Transformers movie will be "very different from the other three".
Meanwhile, Michael Bay has announced that Wahlberg's co-star in the new movie will be Jack Reynor, a virtually unknown 21-year-old actor from Ireland. The film's cast also includes Stanley Tucci and Nicola Peltz from US TV series Bates Motel.
Bay is due to start shooting Transformers 4 this summer for a release in June 2014. The previous three Transformers movies, all directed by Bay, have grossed over $2.6 billion (£1.7 billion) between them at the box office worldwide.
