Garrett Hedlund to return for 'Tron 3'
'Tron: Legacy' star confirms he'll be reprising his role as Sam Flynn in the new sequel
Garrett Hedlund has confirmed that he will be returning for Tron 3.
The actor played Sam Flynn, the son of Jeff Bridges' iconic character Kevin Flynn, in 2010's Tron: Legacy. The film, a belated sequel to 1982's sci-fi classic Tron, went on to gross over $400 million (£248 million) worldwide.
Tron 3 is now in the works at Walt Disney Pictures. Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski is back on board, while Eragon writer Jesse Wigutow is in negotiations to rework an earlier script by David DiGilio.
Now Tron 3 has its first confirmed star. When asked whether he will appearing in the new sequel, Hedlund told Next Movie: "Yeah. Are we gonna break this now? Disney's very excited. That's about that. You know, yeah, I'm very excited, Disney's very excited."
Meanwhile, Hedlund is currently starring opposite Kristen Stewart in On The Road. The film, an adaptation of the Jack Kerouac novel of the same name, opened in the UK on October 12 and arrives in US cinemas on December 21. Scroll down and click 'play' to watch the trailer.
