George Lucas still pondering 'Indiana Jones 5' story

George Lucas has said that he is still seeking the 'MacGuffin' plot device for Indiana Jones 5.

While the writer and producer insists that the project is still in the works, he said that he is still working on the details of the story, including this movie's 'Holy Grail'.

Lucas told New York Magazine that Steven Spielberg's claims that the concept is settled are not quite true: "Actually, I told him I didn't have it yet. I told him about the story, but I really haven't found the MacGuffin yet.

"I mean, I know what it's about, but I just have to find a MacGuffin that fits into the arena we’re working in."

The term 'MacGuffin' was popularised by Alfred Hitchcock meaning a storytelling device that drives the plot and drawns viewers’ attention but has no real significance beyond that. Each Indiana Jones movie has been based around one to drive Indy’s adventures.

Spielberg had previously told Entertainment Weekly: "We have already agreed on the genre of the fifth movie, we already have a concept in mind."
