'Ghostbusters 3' to begin shooting in May next year
Production sources suggest work on third installment will begin in spring 2011
Filming on a third Ghostbusters movie is set to start in May, production sources are claiming. Work on the long-mooted third installment to the comedy series was apparently confirmed by film industry magazine Production Weekly in a tweet.
"Hearing that Sony Pictures is planning to put [director] Ivan Reitman's Ghostbusters 3 into production in May 2011," they wrote on Twitter.com/prodweek.
According to previous reports, the film's original actors Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson are all seemingly keen to return for the movie that will see a younger team of ghost-hunters join the veterans.
Sigourney Weaver has also expressed an interest in reprising the character of Dana Barrett.
However, Bill Murray has voiced his concerns about a third Ghostbusters film, criticising an early version of the script he saw, casting doubt over his involvement, although the actor did attend the Spike TV Scream Awards last month in his costume from the films.
It is reported Aykroyd and Ramis, who wrote the first two films, are currently working on the script with the writers of the US version of The Office.
