Harrison Ford's ankle injury has forced a two week production hiatus on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII.
As previously reported, Ford broke his ankle on a garage door and required medical care at a hospital near to the Pinewood Studios in London, where the film is being shot with director JJ Abrams.
An update on the Star Wars website yesterday (July 6) confirms that the injury will cause a delay to filming, though a far shorter one than the two months suggested by some immediately after the accident.
"In August, the team will take a brief two-week hiatus while adjustments to the current production schedule are made as actor Harrison Ford recovers from a leg injury," the official statement reads. "Harrison is doing well and is looking forward to returning to the set soon. Shooting remains on track to wrap in the fall with the film scheduled for release on December 18, 2015."
The update also confirms that principal photography on the film will continue at Pinewood Studios in London after wrapping on location in Abu Dhabi in May.
Original stars Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill will return for the film alongside new actors Adam Driver, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong'o and Oscar Isaac.
