Harrison Ford signs up for 'Cowboys & Aliens'

Star to join Daniel Craig in Wild West graphic novel adaptation

Harrison Ford signs up for 'Cowboys & Aliens'

Harrison Ford will star in an adaptation of the graphic novel adaptation Cowboys & Aliens alongside Daniel Craig, the film's director has confirmed. Jon Favreau, the director of Iron Man and the forthcoming Iron Man 2, announced via Twitter that rumours Ford, 68, had signed up were true.

The film will see cowboys repelling an alien invasion in the Old West, with Ford tipped to play the role of Alan Cross, the head of the Silver City Homesteader's Bureau.

"Please stop asking if Harrison Ford is in Cowboys & Aliens," Favreau wrote on Twitter. "Okay? He is. Please don't tell anybody.”

Ford has had a poor run of films in recent years. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was a commercial success but a critical flop, while he followed it with a sentimental dramas like Extraordinary Measures and Crossing Over, both of which were widely panned.

Shooting begins on Cowboys & Aliens this summer, with the film is set for a July 2011 release.
