'Homeland' season three premiere leaks online nearly a month early

Homeland's season three premiere leaked on Monday (September 2) - nearly a month before it was due to air on TV.

Within hours of the episode leaking, it had already been downloaded over 100,000 times, TorrentFreak reports. The leaked episode is said to be an unfinished version missing its opening credits and visual effects.

The episode, titled 'Tin Man Is Down', is due to air on US network Showtime on September 29. In the UK, season three is expected to begin shortly afterwards in early October on Channel 4.

Showtime has recently released a three-minute trailer for the new season - watch it below. The network has also teased fans with a plot synopsis, which reads: "Homeland season three opens during the aftermath of the horrific terror attack that decimated the US intelligence apparatus, and prompted a global manhunt for the world's most wanted terrorist - Nick Brody (Damian Lewis).

"As Carrie (Claire Danes) and Saul (Mandy Patinkin) begin to pick up the pieces of their shattered professional and personal lives, they are swept up in the political and media firestorm surrounding the terror attack and the subsequent search for Brody's whereabouts."

Since debuting in 2011, Homeland has been a hit with viewers and critics alike. Earlier this year, the show beat Breaking Bad and Mad Men to win the Best TV Drama award at the Golden Globes. The show even received a name check on a recent track by Jay-Z, which Damian Lewis has called "the coolest thing ever".
