Hugh Grant is to play a washed up Hollywood screenwriter in a new romantic comedy film.
The movie, which does not have a title yet, will be the fourth collaboration between Grant and writer-director Marc Lawrence. The pair teamed up for three previous rom-coms: 2002's Two Weeks Notice, 2007's Music & Lyrics and 2009's Did You Hear About The Morgans?.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, their latest project will star Grant as an English screenwriter who was once the toast of Hollywood, but is now broke, divorced and suffering from writer's block.
To make ends meet, he takes on a teaching job at a small college on the other side of America. Once there, an unexpected romance blossoms between Grant's unlikely teacher and one of his pupils, a single mum returning to school.
The female lead has yet to be cast, but the film is due to begin shooting next April (2013) in New York. Grant, known for genre classics Four Weddings And A Funeral and Notting Hill, has not starred in a romantic comedy since Did You Hear About The Morgans? in 2009.
In the meantime, Grant will be seen in Cloud Atlas, the upcoming sci-fi/fantasy epic from Lana and Andy Wachowski, the creators of The Matrix. Earlier this year (February 2012), Grant revealed that he has six different cameo parts in the movie - among them a killer, cannibal and rapist.
Cloud Atlas opens in US cinemas on October 26 (2012) before getting a UK release on February 22, 2013. You can watch the film's trailer below.
