Hugh Hefner will be the subject of a new biopic from The Queen screenwriter Peter Morgan.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Oscar nominee Morgan is currently in talks with producer Jerry Weintraub, who is developing the film about the legendary Playboy founder for Warner Bros.
Hefner, 86, is on board with the project and has also met with Morgan. He tweeted yesterday (June 17): "I had a good meeting today with screen writer Peter Morgan discussing a film about my life."
Hefner set up Playboy magazine in 1953 and still serves as the Chief Creative Officer of Playboy Enterprises. He is known for his lavish parties at the notorious Playboy Mansion, where he still resides, and for his ever-rotating coterie of girlfriends. The decadent lifestyle of Hefner and his girlfriends was depicted in a reality show called The Girls Next Door, which ran for 91 episodes from 2005 to 2010.
British screenwriter Morgan received Oscar nominations for 2006's The Queen, starring Helen Mirren, and 2008's Frost/Nixon, which focused on an infamous TV interview between former President Richard Nixon and British journalist David Frost. He is currently working on the script for a Freddie Mercury biopic starring Sacha Baron Cohen.
