Jeffrey Wright has been handed a role in Hunger Games: Catching Fire, it has been confirmed.

The actor has been cast the part of 'District 3 tribute' Beetee in the upcoming sequel to this year's smash hit movie. The character plays a significant role in the Suzanne Collins novel, but it is unclear how big a part the character will play in the movie.

Wright is best known for playing CIA agent Felix Leiter in James Bond movies Casino Royale and Quantam Of Solace, but can also be seen in Ides of March and last year's Source Code.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the second film in the fantasy series, is scheduled for release in November 2013. Jennifer Lawrence will reprise her role as Katniss, while castmates Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth are also confirmed for the sequel.

Last month (August), it was announced that Philip Seymour Hoffman will play the film's Head Gamemaker, Plutarch Heavensbee and British actor Sam Claflin will play Finnick Odair.

The first Hunger Games film was released in March (2012) and has since grossed more than $677 million (£432 million) at the worldwide box office. Scroll down to watch the trailer.
