'IT Crowd' star to join 'Knocked Up' spin-off
Chris O'Dowd to join Paul Rudd and Megan Fox in follow-up to hit comedy
Fresh from his lead romantic role in the huge Stateside hit Bridesmaids, The IT Crowd's Chris O'Dowd is to re-team with the film's producer, Judd Apatow, in a follow-up to Apatow's own hit, Knocked Up. The film, with a working title of This Is Forty, is believed to centre around the married life of Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann's characters, Pete and Debbie.
Also joining O'Dowd, as reported by Indiewire, are Megan Fox, Albert Brooks, Lena Dunham and Wyatt Russell as well as Charlene Yi who featured in the original as stoner girlfriend Jodi.
O'Dowd's rise to fame has been fairly sudden but finding humour in his current success he recently tweeted: “Taking everything into account, the ups & downs, at this stage of my life, I think I'd imagined I'd hang out with Ant & Dec more.”
As well as success on the small screen with The IT Crowd, O'Dowd has appeared in The Boat That Rocked, Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel and Gulliver's Travels, but it is Bridesmaids that has proven to be his biggest stepping stone.
Bridesmaids is due for UK release on June 24 2011
