Jack Nicholson to play Robert Downey Jr's dad in 'The Judge'?
Veteran actor is reportedly wanted for the role
Jack Nicholson is reportedly wanted for the role as Robert Downey Jr's dad in The Judge.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros are hoping that Nicholson will take up the offer to appear in the courtroom "dramedy", which will star, and is currently being developed by Robert Downey Jr.
The company are said to be actively courting the veteran actor to star in the film and he has been given a script – written by Gran Torino writer Nick Schenk and Bill Dubuque – by producers.
Downey, who is producing the film with his cohorts Susan Downey and David Gambino, is already on board to star as a successful attorney who returns home for his mother's funeral only to discover his Alzheimer's-stricken father, who is the town's judge, is the murder victim.
The actor has recently just wrapped up filming of Iron Man 3 and reportedly has an open schedule into next year, with the aim that The Judge will be his next film. According to sources, he will meet up with Nicholson this week to discuss the role.
Iron Man 3 is scheduled for release in May 2013. While filming the superhero sequel, Downey was forced to take a break from the production after he injured his ankle shooting a stunt.
