Jake Gyllenhaal in the Nightcrawler
The first trailer has been released for the Jake Gyllenhaal thriller Nightcrawler. Written and directed by Bourne Legacy scribe Dan Gilroy it's set in the nocturnal world of freelance crime journalism

Gyllenhaal plays the morally dubious Lou Bloom, drawn to the dark side of freelance crime journalism he's soon blurring the lines between reporting the news and making it.

Pitched as "a pulse pounding thriller set in the underbelly of Los Angeles" we follow Bloom who believes "good things come to those who work their asses off" and whose motto is "if you wanna win the lottery you have to make the money to buy a ticket."

The film's synopsis reveals:
"Finding a group of freelance camera crews who film crashes, fires, murder and other mayhem, Lou muscles into the cut-throat, dangerous realm of nightcrawling - where each police siren wail equals a possible windfall and victims are converted into dollars and cents."

Also starring Rene Russo (Thor) as Gyllenhaal's TV contact, Bill Paxton (Edge of Tomorrow) and Riz Ahmed (Four Lions), Nightcrawler will screen at the Toronto Film Festival and hit UK cinemas November 14th.
