James Cameron to shoot three 'Avatar' sequels at same time?
Actress Sigourney Weaver reveals that she will begin work on three 'Avatar' sequels in the autumn
Director James Cameron is planning to shoot three sequels to Avatar at the same time, according to star Sigourney Weaver.
Weaver played Dr Grace Augustine in the 2009 sci-fi film, which earned more than $2 billion at the worldwide box office to become the highest-grossing film of all-time.
The actress will resume her role in the film's upcoming sequels, but admitted that she has no idea how long filming will take or whether the films will be shot in order. "I just show up," she told Showbiz 411.
However, Weaver revealed that she will begin work on the sequels in the autumn after she completes a short run in a play in New York. Her Avatar co-stars Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana have previously confirmed that they will also reprise their roles from the first film.
James Cameron, who wrote, directed and co-produced the 2009 film, originally spoke of Avatar as a planned trilogy. However, last month he revealed that there could also be a fourth film in the series. "I'm in the Avatar business. Period. That's it. I'm making Avatar 2, Avatar 3, maybe Avatar 4, and I'm not going to produce other people's movies for them," he is quoted by Movieweb as saying.
