The Sound and the Fury
A first clip has been released online for James Franco's latest directorial effort The Sound And The Fury.

The film will premiere at this week's Venice Film Festival and also features Franco's This Is The End co-stars Seth Rogen (pictured) and Danny McBride.

Set 100 years ago in Mississippi it is based on the novel by Nobel Prize-winning author William Faulkner. Franco's film will "capture the lives and passions of the Compsons, a once proud Southern family caught in a tragic spiral of loss and misfortune".

Considered to be one of the 20th-century’s greatest literary works, The Sound And The Fury "encapsulates the universal theme of the death of honour, social injustice and forbidden love".

James Franco will be honoured with the 'Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory To The Filmmaker' prize at the festival, which is awarded for "an original contribution to innovation in contemporary cinema". Franco is to be recognised for his work as "a relentless ‘manufacturer’ of cultural imagery".

Franco has previously adapted Faulkner's As I Lay Dying for the screen and also starred in the 2013 film.

Franco will reunite with Rogen for The Interview. The comedy, due in cinemas this Christmas, features the pair as talkshow hosts who bag an exclusive chat with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un. But their primetime TV plans change when the CIA recruits them to assassinate the leader.

The clip from The Sound And The Fury features Scott Haze and Joey King. Watch below.
