Jason Statham and James Franco are to star in a new action-thriller written by Sylvester Stallone.
Homefront will be directed by Gary Fleder, best known for Kiss The Girls and Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead, from a script written by Stallone. Stallone will also serve as one of the movie's producers.
According to Variety, Statham will play a former police officer with a record for drugs busts who retires to a small town to escape his past. However, the town turns out to have drug problems of its own, with Franco playing the town's notorious crystal meth dealer.
Executive producer Avi Lerner revealed that Homefront will begin shooting at the end of September (2012) in New Orleans, adding: "I cannot think of a better group to put this film on the big screen. Sly's script is fantastic, James and Jason are remarkable actors and Gary really knows how direct this type of film."
Statham and Stallone star together in The Expendables 2, which opens in the UK and the US on August 17 - scroll down to watch the trailer. Franco has several films awaiting release, including porn industry biopic Lovelace, in which he appears as Hugh Hefner. Although best known as an action star, Stallone has numerous screen writing credits, including both Expendables movies and all six Rocky films.
