Jason Statham linked to future 'Fast And The Furious' films

Jason Statham is rumoured to be lining up to join the Fast And The Furious film franchise.

After the success of the fifth film in the series, Fast Five, two more sequels are being planned, which will shoot back to back.

Director Justin Lin, who helmed Fast Five, is said to want The Transporter actor to star in at least one of the sequels.

Twitch Film reported: "Universal is entering into preliminary conversations with Jason Statham to explore the possibility of the action star joining one or both films."

Fast Five cost around $125million to make, but made almost six times that back at the box office.

It saw stars of the original 2001 film Paul Walker and Vin Diesel go head-to-head with former WWE star Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.

Universal chairman Adam Fogelson has stated previously that Johnson wants to appear in a proposed Fast Six and would be integral to the action.

Other films in the series include 2 Fast 2 Furious, The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift, and Fast & Furious.
