Jeff Goldblum confirms he'll return for 'Independence Day 2'

Jeff Goldblum has confirmed that he will return for an Independence Day sequel.

Speaking to the Huffington Post, the actor revealed that he would be star in the long-awaited follow-up to director Roland Emerich's alien-invasion movie, but added that he had not been asked to return for the forthcoming Jurassic Park sequel.

Asked about Independence Day 2, he said: "They've talked to me about it, and I've talked to them about it and they're excited and I'm anxious and eager to see – I haven't read anything. I think they're trying to put it together."

However, when asked about his possible involvement with Jurassic World, Goldblum – who starred in both the original dinosaur film and the follow-up The Lost World – replied: "They haven't called me for it. Nobody asked me, but I was perfectly satisfied with the two that I did. I'm still satisfied with that and I'll be the first in line to see anything else."

It was previously revealed that Will Smith would not reprise his role as Captain Steve Hillier for Independence Day 2, but Bill Pullman will be back as President Thomas J Whitmore. The film is set to open in UK cinemas on July 1, 2016.
