John Lithgow joins Christopher Nolan's new sci-fi film 'Interstellar'
Impressive cast already includes Anne Hathaway, Matthew McConaughey and Michael Caine
John Lithgow has landed a role in Interstellar, the forthcoming sci-fi film from Christopher Nolan.
The veteran actor joins an impressive-looking cast that already includes Anne Hathaway, Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine and Ellen Burstyn, TheWrap reports.
Interstellar is Christopher Nolan's first project as director since last year's The Dark Knight Rises, the concluding part of his Batman trilogy. He collaborated on the script with his brother Jonathan, who also contributed to two of the Batman screenplays and The Prestige.
Exact plot details are being kept under wraps but the story is said to follow a group of intrepid explorers who go through a "wormhole" into another dimension. Nolan is hoping to start shooting Interstellar next month (August) in Calgary, Canada. The film has already been given a release date of November 7, 2014.
Two-time Oscar nominee Lithgow's recent film appearances include This Is 40 and Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes. He won a Golden Globe in 2009 for his performance as a serial killer in season four of Dexter.
