Johnny Depp: 'I was miserable before I had kids'
The 'Dark Shadows' star admits to years spent 'angry and frustrated'
Johnny Depp has revealed that he was "angry and frustrated" before having children.
The actor, who can next be seen reuniting with director Tim Burton for Dark Shadows, has admitted in a new interview that he did not know to appreciate his success until becoming a father.
He told The Sun: "There is nothing on earth that could ever make me want to relive certain years of my life when I was young. You grow up a bit damaged or broken, then you have some success - but you don't know how to feel good about the work you’re doing or the life you're leading."
Depp added that the birth of his two children with Vanessa Paradis, Lily Rose and Jack, marked a turning point in his life: "You feel empty. I was angry and frustrated until I started my own family and my first child was born. Until then I didn't really appreciate life the way I should have, but fortunately I woke up."
Dark Shadows, a remake of the cult US horror soap, opens in the UK on May 11. Watch Depp in action as vampire Barnabas Collins below.
