Joss Whedon on 'The Avengers 2': 'I think it's in really good shape'
The eagerly-anticipated sequel to 'The Avengers' is due for release in May 2015
Joss Whedon has given an update on The Avengers 2.
Written and directed by Whedon, last year's The Avengers became the third most successful film of all-time at the box office, grossing over $1.51 billion (£980 million) worldwide. Marvel has slated the sequel for release on May 1, 2015.
Asked about the sequel's script, Whedon told Yahoo!: "I have finished a draft and I'm redoing it now. I think it's in really good shape. We're in a very good place."
Discussing his overall progress on the sequel, Whedon added: "It's going really well - eventually someone will explain to me that it's not and pull me out of my bubble. I've been writing and meeting with actors and we're starting to storyboard, all the preliminary processes. This is the part where it's all still fun."
Whedon also revealed that The Avengers 2 will feature a couple of new faces, saying: "I've got these two characters, two of my favourite characters from the comic book, a brother-sister act. They're in the movie."
Before The Avengers 2 arrives, several characters from the superhero ensemble will star in their own solo movies. Iron Man 3 opened in cinemas yesterday (April 25), and will be followed by Thor: The Dark World on November 8 this year (2013) and Captain America: The Winter Soldier on April 4, 2014.
