Judi Dench linked with 'Star Wars' role
Rumours suggest actress could play Mon Mothma
Judi Dench has been linked with a role in Star Wars: Episode VII.
Big Shiny Robot claims that the Skyfall actress could be in line to play Mon Mothma – the character who co-ordinates the attack on the Death Star in Return Of The Jedi – in JJ Abrams' film, although there has been no official confirmation that she is in talks regarding the part.
It was revealed yesterday (January 20) that the script for Episode VII has now been completed. Abrams said: "We're working really hard and we've got our script and we're in deep prep. Full steam ahead." The director also addressed the many rumours surrounding the film, adding: "There've been so many of them. It's amazing to see how many there are. But it's sweet because it shows that there’s an interest in this movie that we all obviously know is there."
Star Wars: Episode VII is expected to open in cinemas on December 18, 2015, with shooting due to begin next Spring (2014) at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.
Harrison Ford and fellow original stars Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill are all expected to be returning, though Ford claimed he has "not quite made the choice" during a TV interview earlier this year (October). Atonement's Saoirse Ronan and The Wire actor Michael B Jordan have both revealed they have auditioned for roles and Benedict Cumberbatch, who worked with Abrams on this year's Star Trek Into Darkness, has been linked to the film too.
