'Juno' writer Diablo Cody teams up with 'Gossip Girl' creators for new teen series
It's about a home-schooled genius who enrols in high school to experience a 'normal' social life
Diablo Cody (above) is teaming up with the creators of Gossip Girl for a new US teen series.
Cody, the Oscar-winning writer of Juno and Young Adult, will pen the script for a teen drama called Prodigy, The Hollywood Reporter reveals. The show centres on a home-schooled 16-year-old genius who enrols in high school so she can experience a "normal" teen social life - but soon gets taken in by the local wild crowd.
Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the creators of Gossip Girl, will serve as executive producers. Schwartz is also known as the creator of another hit teen series, The OC (pictured right).
US network Fox has placed a script order for Prodigy and will decide whether to shoot a pilot episode once this has been submitted. In addition to writing Juno and Young Adult, Cody created and wrote the acclaimed comedy-drama series The United States Of Tara, which ran for three seasons from 2009 to 2011.
Gossip Girl ended last year (2012) after six seasons and 121 episodes on US network The CW. Schwartz's other teen hit The OC has recently spawned a Turkish remake.
