Kid Cudi joins cast of 'Need For Speed' movie

The film is being based on the popular series of racing car video games by Electronic Arts

Kid Cudi has signed up for a supporting role in the Need For Speed movie.

The film is being based on the popular series of racing car video games by Electronic Arts, which has now sold over 100 million copies worldwide. Last October (2012), Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul was cast as the film's lead.

The script will be "inspired by" the racing games, but not adapted from any one title. Paul's character is the owner of a garage that modifies supercars who gets sent to prison after being framed for the murder of his best friend during a race. According to Deadline, Kid Cudi will appear as his best friend.

The film's cast also includes Captain America actor Dominic Cooper, who signed up back in November (2012). Scott Waugh (Act Of Valor) is on board as director. Filming is scheduled to begin early this year (2013) in Atlanta, Georgia and DreamWorks has set a release date of February 7, 2014.

Kid Cudi real name Scott Mescudi – is expected to release his third album 'Indicud' in March. His acting CV includes a recurring role on axed HBO show How To Make It In America and several upcoming indie flicks. Earlier this month (January 2013), he took to Twitter to criticise his record label over a lack of radio airplay.
