Kurt Russell in talks to star in Quentin Tarantino's 'Django Unchained'

Kurt Russell is currently in talks to replace Kevin Costner in Quentin Tarantino's forthcoming western Django Unchained

The 60-year-old is being lined up to play the role of Ace, a ruthless understudy to Leonardo DiCaprio who plays a Francophile plantation owner, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The role would see Russell reunite with director Tarantino, for the first time since his 2007 Grindhouse movie Death Proof. Costner bowed out of the upcoming western last week due to "scheduling conflicts".

Dennis Christopher, best known for 1979's Breaking Away, is the latest confirmed cast member.

Jamie Foxx was recently confirmed to play the lead role in the film which is scheduled to open in cinemas on Christmas Day next year.

The movie is set in the American South of the 1800's and follows a freed slave (Foxx) who partners with a German bounty hunter, played by Christoph Waltz, in order to find his wife.
