Larry Lamb on 'Gavin & Stacey' return: 'Not a chance in hell'
Gavin's dad quashes hopes for a new series of the popular BBC sitcom
Larry Lamb has quashed any lingering hopes that Gavin & Stacey could return for another series.
"Not a chance in hell," he told Digital Spy conclusively, before adding: "They're busy doing an American version of it. I think that's the next time you'll see it."
Lamb, who played Gavin's dad Mick in the popular BBC sitcom, was referring to the upcoming US remake of Gavin & Stacey. It's titled Us & Them and relocates the action from Billericay and Barry Island to New York and smalltown Pennsylvania.
Alexis Bledel (Gilmore Girls) and Jason Ritter (Parenthood) star in the roles made famous by Joanna Page and Mat Horne. Most of the character names are the same, though Uncle Bryn has become Uncle Brian and Smithy is now called Archie.
Gavin & Stacey's creators James Corden and Ruth Jones serve as executive producers on the remake - as does Steve Coogan, whose production company Baby Cow made the original BBC series.
Us And Them is due to premiere on US network Fox early next year (2014). In the meantime, you can watch a trailer for the series now by pressing 'play' below.
