'Looper' and 'Brick' director 'working on next two 'Star Wars' films'

It has been reported that Rian Johnson will write and direct Star Wars: Episode VIII and is also working on Episode IX.
Johnson's previous work includes directing Looper and 2005 film-noir, Brick. The director also worked on a number of episodes of hit TV series Breaking Bad.
Deadline reports that Lucasfilm is currently making a deal with Johnson while The Wrap claims that he will not direct Episode IX but will write the treatment.
Though not confirming any details, Johnson posted the following tweet once the initial reports emerged online last night (June 20).
Before either of the sequels emerge arrive there will be the JJ Abrams directed Star Wars: Episode VII, currently shooting at London's Pinewood Studios ahead of a December 2015 release.
Original stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill will return for the film alongside newcomers including Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver and latest addition Lupita Nyong'o.
Additionally, Josh Trank, whose films include Chronicle and the upcoming The Fantastic Four, joins Welsh director Gareth Edwards on the list of directors who will helm a series of stand-alone films that will be released in the intermittent years between the main Star Wars films.
