Man arrested after attacking Brad Pitt at 'Maleficent' premiere

Red carpet prankster Vitalii Sediuk believed to be behind stunt

A man has been arrested after attacking Brad Pitt at the premiere of wife Angelina Jolie's new film Maleficent.

It is reported (via TMZ) that the man who jumped over the barrier and hit the actor at the Hollywood event was red carpet prankster Vitalii Sediuk. It was Sediuk who climbed under America Ferrera's dress at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this month. Police have said that the suspect could be charged with misdemeanour battery.

It is reported that that Pitt "was giving it some" after being attacked and that Sediuk was led away by security to the sound of cheers from the crowds gathered at the premiere.

Angelina Jolie plays the title character in Maleficent, the glamorous baddie from Sleeping Beauty who proclaims herself "the mistress of all evil." Pitt and Jolie's five-year-old daughter Vivienne Jolie-Pitt also makes her screen debut as the young Princess Aurora.

The bumper cast also includes new Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi, Elle Fanning, Imelda Staunton, Miranda Richardson, Sam Riley, Brenton Thwaites, Sharlto Copley and Lesley Manville.

Maleficent opens in UK and US cinemas on May 30.
