Man Of Steel star Henry Cavill could replace Tom Cruise in Guy Ritchie's The Man From UNCLE movie.
Cruise had been attached to star alongside Armie Hammer in Ritchie's film adaptation of the classic '60s TV series, but recently dropped out to concentrate on the new Mission: Impossible movie.
According to Variety, makers Warner Bros have "acted fast" and started talks with Cavill, who is said to be available right away. Ritchie plans to begin filming The Man From UNCLE this autumn. In an interesting twist of fate, Cavill apparently met with Warner Bros about the role Armie Hammer eventually landed back when Cruise was still on board.
The original The Man From UNCLE TV series starred Robert Vaughan and David McCallum as a pair of secret agents who work for a fictitious international espionage agency called the United Network Command for Law and Enforcement (UNCLE). It ran for 105 episodes between 1964 and 1968.
Meanwhile, Cavill will soon be seen as Clark Kent in Man Of Steel, the eagerly-anticipated Superman reboot from Watchmen director Zack Snyder. The film opens in cinemas on June 14 and you can watch the latest trailer by pressing 'play' below.
