'Man Of Steel' trailer is 'just the tip of the iceberg', says the film's writer
Screenwriter David S Goyer insists 'there's so much of the movie that people don't know'
David S Goyer, the writer of Superman reboot Man Of Steel, has insisted fans still have no idea what to expect from the film.
Directed by Watchmen's Zack Snyder, Man Of Steel stars British actor Henry Cavill as Clark Kent and Amy Adams as Lois Lane. The first full-length trailer was released last December (2012) and received an overwhelmingly positive response from film critics and Superman fans.
However, Goyer - who also worked on Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy - has now suggested the trailer gives next to nothing away. He told Total Film: "It's something Chris tried hard to do with the Batman films. I'm genuinely pleased with how much secrecy we've been able to maintain. There's so much of the movie that people don't know, that hasn't been touched upon. The trailer's just the tiniest, tiniest tip of the iceberg."
Christopher Nolan served as a producer on Man Of Steel, but Goyer insisted the film's tone is very different to the Batman trilogy. He explained: "Relatable and realistic doesn't necessarily mean dark. I think it would be inappropriate for us to approach a Superman film as if we were doing The Dark Knight. The Batman films are a lot more nihilistic; Superman has always been a story about hope."
Alongside Cavill and Adams, Man Of Steel boasts a bumper ensemble cast including Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane. The film arrives in cinemas on June 14.
