Marc Webb to direct ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 3’

Filmmaker will return for third film in superhero series

Marc Webb will return to direct The Amazing Spider-Man 3, it has been confirmed.

As Total Film reports, Sony have confirmed that filmmaker Webb will helm a third film in the superhero series. A script has reportedly already been written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinker, and there are early plans to begin production on the picture this autumn with a scheduled UK release date of 27 May, 2016.

Webb was behind the camera for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which will see Andrew Garfield return as Peter Parker and his web-slinging alter-ego, with Emma Stone also reprising her role as Gwen Stacy.

Jamie Foxx will also star as the villainous Electro, while Paul Giamatti is portraying the Rhino and classic nemesis The Green Goblin, as played by Dane DeHaan, will also feature in the film. Shailene Woodley had been due to appear as Mary Jane Watson, but her role has recently been cut from the film and MJ will now make her Amazing Spider-Man debut in the third movie, due in 2016.
