Marvel planning 'Guardians Of The Galaxy' sequel?
Follow-up already in the work, say rumours
Marvel are already planning a sequel to the forthcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy, according to reports.
The film centres on a team of superheroes – including Star-Lord, Drax The Destroyer and Rocket Raccoon – who appear in a 2008 comic book series of the same name. Marvel is hoping it will kickstart another big screen franchise like The Avengers when it opens in cinemas on August 1, 2014.
Now, according to JoBlo, the studio are already plotting a follow-up film, which could potentially be released on May 6, 2016 – a date which has been reserved for an unannounced project by Marvel, and would come shortly after a Guardians Of The Galaxy cartoon series premieres on Disney XD in autumn 2015. Marvel, however, have not yet commented on the reports.
Guardians Of The Galaxy boasts a bumper cast including John C Reilly, Bradley Cooper, Benicio Del Toro, Parks And Recreations actor Chris Pratt, former Doctor Who star Karen Gillan and Vin Diesel. Director James Gunn began shooting the film in July last year (2013).
