Matthew McConaughey has spoken about Interstellar, the new sci-film by director Christopher Nolan.

McConaughey is set to star in Nolan's new project, which will be his first film since 2012's The Dark Knight Rises. Speaking to Variety about the picture, McConaughey – who has won recent acclaim for his turn in Dallas Buyers Club – said: "Here's what I can tell you. It's the most ambitious thing he’s ever done. And he’s done some ambitious stuff.

"There’s no fucking around on set. He's a great problem solver. In that way, he's very indie. Here's a guy who could have whatever budget he wants – and we finished shooting early."

Nolan collaborated on the script with his brother Jonathan, who also contributed to two of the Batman screenplays and The Prestige.Exact plot details are being kept under wraps but the story is said to follow a group of intrepid explorers who go through a "wormhole" into another dimension. The film has been given a release date of November 7, 2014.

In addition to McConaughey, the film's impressive cast includes Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine, Ellen Burstyn, John Lithgow, Topher Grace and David Oyelowo. You can watch a teaser trailer below.
